Throw with diagonal bands
This throw has two layers. The top layer is made with three vintage Japanese silks, all from the late 20th century.
The center panel (flat-weave) has humorous designs of a man’s figure with a large hat and what looks like insect’s wings on a striped black and brown background. The top and bottom bands (flat weave) have a print of wavy brown lines and white flowers on black background.
The side-bands have white and navy blue designs on light green background dyed with the shibori technique.
The backing is black silk crepe that folds around two sides of the throw, framing the kimono silks.
This piece drapes beautifully.
