Yellow quilt with hand-stitching
This quilt top is made with four different vintage meisen silks from pre-WWII.
The yellow and red silks have similar saturated color and smooth texture, while the surrounding black silks have a rougher texture, creating a nice contrast.
The center section has hand-quilted accents, that echo the fabric’s woven geometric designs, similar to traditional Japanese sashiko embroidery. This hand-stitching is marked by us and executed, on commission, by professional Amish quilters.
It has a middle layer of top quality warm and soft wool batting and a bottom layer of soft, lustrous black cotton sateen, which folds around the edges to create the binding or border. The border is hand-sewn.
