Silver and gold quilt
This quilt top is made with three types of top quality vintage Japanese meisen silks (from three different kimono), all from pre-WWII.
The central panel has woven dark-red flower roundels on lustrous silvery-grey background.
This is surrounded by another, slightly different silvery-grey meisen silk with woven purple bamboo stalks.
The outside border has woven turquoise, brown and grey flowers on gold background.
All three silks are extremely soft, with charming, slightly uneven weave.
It has a middle layer of top quality warm and soft wool batting and a bottom layer of very soft purple cotton, which folds around the edges to create the binding or border. The border is hand-sewn.
