Salmon quilt with sampler border
This quilt top is made with two different vintage Japanese silk crepes from before WWII.
The border silk belonged to a kimono made as a sampler of the different patterns available to make custom-orders, so each section has different printed patterns, separated by a thin, white line. Both silks are extremely soft.
It has wool batting and a bottom layer of soft, black cotton sateen, which folds around the edges to create the binding or border. The border is hand-sewn.
