Red Quilt with Hand-Stitching
This quilt top is made with three different vintage Japanese silks. The center panel, with printed flowers, is from pre WWII. The orange borders, with white, yellow, grey and light-blue geometric designs, are meisen silk from the 60’s. The two red borders, with pink, yellow, black and grey geometric shapes, are also meisen silk from the 60’s and have hand-quilted details echoing the rectangular shapes. It has wool batting and the backing is brown doupioni silk, which folds around the edges to create the hand-sewn border.
