Gold and Purple Quilt
This queen-size quilt top is made with three types of vintage Japanese meisen silk (from three different kimonos) from pre-WWII, each with very distinct texture.
The center portion is very lustrous and has a brown and grey woven leopard print on gold background. The big outside band, which is matte, has raised lines in some of the rectangular shapes resembling embroidery. The silk panels with purple arabesques also have a peculiar uneven texture. The backing is purple cotton and it has a border of the same orange silk as the front. It has wool batting.
