Cream and salmon tsumugi quilt
This quilt top is made with three different vintage Japanese silks.
The central panel is made from a dead-stock bolt of unused, lustrous, tsumugi silk, with it’s characteristic charming uneven texture. It has geometric designs on cream background.
The border sections are two different matte meisen silks (pre WWII), with woven geometric shapes on salmon pink background.
All three silks are extremely soft, strong and medium weight.
It has a middle layer of top quality warm and soft wool batting and a bottom layer of black silk doupioni, which folds around the edges to create the binding or border. The border is hand-sewn.
